It’s time to leave the distractions behind and get your bags packed. I’ll give you a break down of everything you may need to do before you leave on your tropical retreat +streamline and simplify your packing list, so you feel stress-free while on the vacation of your dreams.
First you’ll want to make sure you have travel insurance. I ended up going with the travel insurance company my airline carrier partnered with when I purchased my ticket, so I didn’t have to shop around. The recommendation by Forbes is great, because Squaremouth helps travelers find the best policy for their trip for the lowest possible price.
I curated these grab and go essentials, so you only take what is necessary. It’s important to tune in and deepen your connection with nature and relax in nature’s elements, so you won’t have time to care about coordinating a stylish outfit, using a hair dryer or putting make-up on.
Before I get into my top travel packing tips, I invite you to join one of our empowering holistic wellness retreats filled with somatic movement, skin care, ritual & ceremony in the Pacific NW.

For a harmonious escape there are some important items to keep in mind when you pack your carry on bag. Bring one rolled up workout or yoga outfit, just in case your bag is late or lost. Depending on how long your vacation is, you may need clothing for up to 8 sessions of movement, but always check before you travel to make sure you don’t need to bring your own mat or gear.
Throw in a functional swimsuit, rash guard, white dress or outfit for ceremony, wet sandals/thongs, empty water bottle, sunglasses, medications & supplements, an emergency kit (bandaids, neosporin, benedryl, etc.), bug spray and reef safe SPF. If you have the essentials with you on your carry-on, you won’t be frustrated when unexpected luggage issues happen.
Next you’ll want to think about light, packable layers, a do-it-all-dress that you can wear a few times, a pair of relaxed adventure shorts and a thin shirt/tank that has UPF 50 or higher ― so better than your typical SPF sunscreen. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) indicates how much UV radiation (both UVB and UVA) a fabric allows to reach your skin. For example, a UPF 50 fabric blocks 98 percent of the sun’s rays and allows two percent (1/50th) to penetrate, thus reducing your exposure risk significantly.
Don’t forget your favorite pen or pencil. You’ll have a ton of time to dream and write down what you’re thinking and feeling in your journal. It’s the perfect time to manifest what you want for yourself, plus bring any snacks you can’t live without! My guilty pleasure is Paleo Valley Grass-Fed Beef Sticks.
I hope I made it easy with this one and done packing list that’s both simple and practical. I went on my first tropical vacation last year and learned firsthand that I had over packed, left behind crucial items and for the first time was able to let go of my built up stress from the pandemic. I encourage everyone to make time for a tropical retreat and pack light and intentionally for a transformational and profound, full body, mind and spirit reset.
